Our laboratory conducts research on crop genetic engineering, although its members also use molecular markers as a tool for transgene deployment. The bulk of the work deals with the development of protocols for somatic embryogenesis and genetic transformation of soybean, alfalfa, rice and maize. We are part of the Department of Crop & Soil Sciences at The University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia.
