Crop Sciences Research
The faculty in the crop sciences are engaged in research, education, and extension outreach activities related to improving crop and forage production Applied research areas in crop science include determining the impact of environmental stress agronomic crop production and ways to minimize the impact on yield and yield quality. Crop scientists work in interdisciplinary teams to develop management systems for our agronomic crops that include soil scientists, weed scientists, entomologists, plant pathologists, agricultural economists, agricultural engineers, and food scientists. The goal of these management systems is to keep production of agronomic crops and forages in Georgia economically competitive with minimal impact on the environment.
Crop science research is conducted at the Athens, Griffin, and Tifton campuses as well as all of the Research and Education Centers located near the main production areas of the main agricultural production areas in the state.
