Research, Teaching, and Extension Work
Development of superior warm-season turfgrass cultivars.
- Bermudagrass: Breeding and selection for enhanced drought and plant-parasitic nematode response.
- Centipedegrass: Selection for persistence in high pH and saline soils.
- Zoysiagrass: Breeding and selection for low maintenance applications.
- Integrate molecular breeding technologies (in conjunction with USDA and UGA scientists) with classical methods to improve the cultivar development process.
- Incorporate turfgrass management tools (digital image analysis and spectral reflectance) to provide quantitative, non-biased information to aid in selection.
