Research, Teaching, and Extension Work

I have a 75% teaching and 25% research appointment.  With respect to teaching, I teach two courses in Crop & Soil Sciences (soil microbiology, research methods) and four courses in the Environmental Ethics Certificate Program (environmental literacy, environmental values and policies, graduate and undergraduate research, and environmental ethics seminar).  With respect to research,  I conduct research in bacterial source tracking (using chemical, phenotypic, and genotypic methods to determine sources of fecal contamination in water), the fate of natural hormones from animal and human wastes in surface waters, and agricultural ethics.  In addition to my teaching and research duties, I have been Graduate and Undergraduate Coordinator of the University of Georgia's internationally recognized Environmental Ethics Certificate Program since 1992.
