Research, Teaching, and Extension Work
I have the responsibility of managing the Georgia Envirotron facility, situated on the UGA Griffin Campus. This facility provides researchers with growth chambers, rain-out shelters, and greenhouse space in which to conduct research in controlled environments. I oversee the facility as well as managing the day to day requirements of the equipment and needs of the faculty.
My research interests are in the use of controlled environment technologies to study the effect of global warming stresses on plants.
In addition I work to inform the public about the scientific basis of global warming. I also have expertise in the application of geospatial technologies in the area of natural resource management, and provide guidance to other faculty in this area. I am involved in the development of a mobile salinity mapping devices for monitoring salinity levels in halophilic turf grasses.
I serve as the UGA liaison for the Georgia NASA Space Grant Consortium and administer the program through the college.
I teach two courses, Introduction to Geospatial Technologies (AESC3510) and Weather, Climate and Biometeorology (CRSS 4220 ).
