T. HAYDEN ROGERS DISTINGUISHED AGRONOMIC SERVICE AWARD

The T. Hayden Rogers Distinguished Agronomic Service award is named for Dr. T. Hayden Rogers who served as Head of the Agronomy Department at Athens from 1953 until 1967 and served as Division Chairman from 1964 to 1967. Dr. Rogers was highly respected by faculty, staff, and students and was credited with greatly strengthening the teaching program in Athens during his tenure as department head.

Criteria for the award are:

1. Service to and promotion of the research, extension, and resident instruction programs of the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences, University of Georgia.

2. Enhancement of agronomic production and/or resource conservation in Georgia; for example, service to the Georgia Crop Improvement Association, Foundation Seeds, Georgia Seedsmen, Conservation Districts, extension, agribusiness, commodity commissions, etc.

3. Service to the nominee’s community, state, or county in other areas.

4. Nominees cannot be an employee of the University of Georgia, any state, federal, or private organization, nor elected official paid to perform services as described above.

5. Nominations should include biographical data and supporting information that describes the nominee’s contributions to agronomic production and/or resource conservation and management. The nomination cannot exceed three pages in length and should emphasize the nominee’s contributions to Soil and Crop Sciences.

6. All nominations should be submitted to the Department Head by the last Friday in February. The recipient of the award will be selected by the Executive Committee of the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences, and the award will be presented at the annual Spring faculty meeting.
