    The Carter-Jones Award

The Carter-Jones Award is a Crop and Soil Sciences Department award given in honor of R. L. Carter and L.S. Jones, College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, University of Georgia. It is awarded to a University of Georgia Crop and Soil Sciences faculty or graduate student who has made outstanding achievements in teaching, research, or extension in soil and/or crop science.

Eligibility: Any present or past University of Georgia Crop and Soil sciences faculty member or graduate student is eligible for the award. The contribution(s) for which the candidate is being nominated must have been made within a five-year period of being nominated. A person may receive this award only once.

Nominations: Nominations will be due on the last Friday in February, and the award will be presented at the annual Spring faculty meeting. The nomination is limited to three pages in length, and should present a summary of the achievements on which the nomination is based.

Selection Committee: The screening committee shall consist of three immediate past recipients of the award. When one or more of the three immediate past recipients are not available, other past recipients will be solicited for screening committee participation.  The screening committee shall submit a maximum of three names with recommendations (ranked) to the Department Head. The Crop and Soil Sciences Executive Committee will make the final selection, in concert with the Selection Committee if different from the committee ranking.
