Application, fees & travel details:

  • Caters to students with diverse backgrounds; while a background in biology is preferred, no prior knowledge is assumed.

  • 3-6 Credit hours
    • Get 3 credit hours for the course itself
    • Get up to 3 additional credit hours by doing extra projects

  • Meets the cultural diversity requirement for UGA

  • Approximate cost: ~$2000 + tuition (estimated @ $489 for 3 credit hours) & technology fee ($34), depending on airfare rates and the number of partipants.

    • Expected travel dates: July 7 to July 27, 2008
    • Includes airfare, in-country travel, exit taxes, park entrance fees, local faculty, hotels, travel insurance, and all meals
    • Does not include phone calls, laundry, tips, and personal & entertainment expenses
    • For students not in the University System of Georgia, there is an additional $250 handling fee and an additional $50 application fee. Out of state tuition is waived-- out of state students pay the in-state rate.

  • To guarantee space, a $100 application fee and a $400 deposit are required. The application fee is only refunded to those students not accepted into the program; otherwise, the deposit is non-refundable, and is applied towards the cost of the trip.

    • The application form is due by February 28, 2008, to ensure space.
    • The $400 deposit is due by March 31, 2008
    • Final payment due May 1, 2008
    • Late applications will be accepted depending on space availability

  • Prerequisites:
    • POD, or
    • ANTH/CRSS/ECOL/GEOG/HORT 4930/6930

  • Valid passport required
